Condition is excellent. Much of Kavin's print work can be characterized as whimsical fantasy. Her prints were often filled with mystery and riddles for the viewer to interpret. Zena Kavin (1912-2003) Born in Berkeley, CA on Oct. 25, 1912, Zena Kavin studied at the California School of Fine Arts and with Aleksey Kravchenko in Moscow. Four years were spent in New Mexico during the 1930s. She wed artist Jon Cornin in 1940 and returned with him to a studio-home in Oakland. Using the pseudonym Corka, the Cornins produced cartoons for the Saturday Evening Post and New Yorker. As well as figural work in casein tempera, she has done oils, wood engravings, lithographs, and tapestries. She died in Oakland, CA on April 9, 2003.
