Description: Yellowstone National Park: Six Un-posted Haynes "Autochrome" and "Blue-Letter" Postcards Haynes produced his "Autochrome" cards in 1904-06; the term is a trade name for photogravure. Printed by Glaser in Leipzig, then Prussia, all are undivided-backs, with either a bottom margin with red type or a side (end) margin with same. Ten subjects were produced. (1-2) "Golden Gate Canyon and Viaduct, Haynes Photo, Printed in Germany." (3-4) "Punch Bowl Spring," ditto. The "blue-letters," named for their captions, by contrast were produced in 1906 by Brown and Bigelow of Minneapolis. They too are undivided-backs, with an end margin for captions. Again, ten cards were created as a set. (5-6) "Canyon from Artist's Point, Haynes Photo." (7-8) "Emerald Pool," ditto. (9-10) "Jupiter and Pulpit Terrace," ditto. (11-12) "Lake Hotel," ditto. (cf. Saunders, Glimpses of Wonderland, pp. 93-95 and 128, 131). Your cards will be mailed in a stiff cardboard envelope. I am always willing to combine purchases to save on postage.
