You may also have noticed that any device plugged into the Square USB hub has its power cut whenever exiting the Square App on the iPad. The continuous power supplied by the AC adapter prevents the scanner from shutting off and having to reboot once you've returned to the Square App. The scanner wirelessly and automatically connects to the cradle directly, so it appears to the Square Stand as a wired USB scanner and there is no need to modify iPad bluetooth settings or do any pairing to the iPad.
