Vintage WWII United States ArmyQUARTERMASTER CORPS.CAMP LEE, Virginia Souvenir satin cloth panel that was a pillowcase. It is printed with the U.S. Army Quatermaster Corp.eagle seal, and a poem titled "Friendship." It is decorated with fuzzy velveteen flowers The panel measures 17" x 18"and is in good condition overall. There are a few tiny holes and a small stain The satin panel comes with the original letter that Private Raymond J. Williams sent to his wifeMadeline on April 12, 1943. In the letter he writes:"I sent you and Mother a pillowcase coveryesterday, it had the Army insignia on it." It is amazing that these two items have remained together after all of this time. These are part of the collection ofPVT Raymond J. Williams (31306450)of Roxbury, Massachusetts,who served in WWII from 1943 - 1944.He was in the the artillery battalion supplydivision and was stationed in New Guinea from 1944-45and later Manila and Luzon in the Phillipines.Before going overseas he was stationed at the Headquarters Battery 730 Field ArtilleryFort Leonard Wood, MO, and then at Camp Breckingridge, KY and Fort Ord, CA.
