The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Johann Vogl Johann was a Private in an Anti-Tank Regiment and fell on September 9, 1943 during the intense defensive fighting near Kharkov at the age of 18 years and 9 months.
