Description: This is a nice First World War French Model 1892 Haversack that remains in very good, field used condition. It is constructed of brown canvas material with a flap that is secured by two thin zinc buttons. Sewn to the sides is a long carrying sling with a two-prong metal adjustment buckle. Attached to the sling is an original and undamaged French Army Model 1855 tinned iron cup. The outer flap has a dark black stain to the left side and with what appears to be several smaller blood stains around it. One of the zinc securing buttons is missing. There are no rips, tears, or repairs in the material. The sling has a few small holes and a contemporary sewn repair but remains strong and solid. Any markings on the haversack have been worn away long ago. This remains a fine-looking example that has definitely seen service in the trenches during the First World War but remains in very good, field used condition.8457
