Description: The front of the medal features a female profile and “Romania Recunoscatoare” (Romania Reunited). The back features a hand holding a sword over a Greek style cross with the date, “1941” and “Cruciada Impotriva Comunismului” (Crusade against Communism). The medal was created April 1942 and awarded to military who distinguished themselves in combat on the Eastern Front. Romania entered WWII on the side of the Axis powers. After Stalingrad, King Mihai staged a successful coup and the Romanian army switched sides and fought with the allies to drive the Germans back through Transylvania, Hungary and Czechoslovakia. The Medal is 32mm wide. The medal is draped on a WWII German Winter Campaign in Russian ribbon. Please see photos for details.
