I skimmed the book and he did not mention his squadron. The gunner's first mission was on D-Day June 6 1944. The book is filled with remembrances. He talks about some of his missions. On his 33rd mission (35 to rotate home) August 13, 1944 he is shot down and bails out. He is in Stalag Luft IV In February, 1945 they are marched out of the camp. On April 28 1945 he is in American hands again. The memoir of a World War II vet, training to be a waist gunner in a B-17, flying missions over Europe, getting shot down and taken prisoner by the SS, being a POW for months in a Stalag, walking hundreds of miles with thousands of other GI's on the infamous German Death March, returning home and finally being honorably discharged from the Air Corps.
