During the conflict Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire fought against Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan and the United States. WWI saw unprecedented levels of carnage. When the war was over, the Allied Powers claimed victory and more than 16 million people – soldiers and civilians – were dead. Offering a 5 ¼ x 7 ¼ album containing 22 war related photographs, mostly 3 ¾ x 4 ½, of different scenes (a couple of duplicates) of buildings and churches in ruins, villagers, soldiers’ home, group of soldiers, horse hospital, starving horse, horse stables, mausoleum grave site, small carnival band, entitled Fasnacht 1916, and two men intertwined, indicating a same sex relationship. Loose photos unattached to the album pages show an artist in his studio. A few of the photographs have descriptions in German. While not clearly identified as WWI, the photographs are clearly illustrating war damage and the date of 1916, seen in one of the photographs, would place them in WWI.
