Description: WOOD & SONS Semi Porcelain "VERONA" Pattern One of the earliest patterns in the Woods inventory, the Verona backstamp often features the old 'Wood & Son' mark - with 'Son' singular. According to the reference books, this was in use between 1891-1907, before the company became 'Wood & Sons' (plural). However, in later years backstamps were often used indiscrimately, and it is not uncommon to find the old 'son' mark used on items with later impressed date stamps from the 1910s to the 1930s. The pattern is decorated with hand painted flowers in vibrant colors with generous gilding on the leaves and inner bands. The pattern was produced in several colorways. Like other early 20th century Woods items, Verona features a 'piecrust' or gadrooned rim, which is also gilded. Pieces in mint condition; barely looks used. No chips, cracks or discoloration. Look for other pieces of same collection in seller's store. I do my best to accurately describe each piece. 9" round vegetable bowl; nearly 3" tall. 6.25" diameter smaller bowl set of 4. Ask all questions first please, I don't take returns.
