Description: ITEM DESCRIPTIONWinsor McCay Little Nemo Sammy Sneeze 1906 comic strip book FRENCH ed Hachette 2$600.00 LITTLE SAMMY SNEEZE by WINSOR MCCAY 1905 French or Canadian version (published by Hachette) of the super rare Winsor McCay strip book for Little Sammy Sneeze (published in the USA by the NY Herald). This version is titled "Petit Sammy Eternue". GENERAL CONDITION OF PLATINUM ERA BOOKS---comic books of this era, called the Platinum era by collectors, are notoriously impossible to find in good shape. Finding something from the 1900-1930 period in true FINE condition is almost as difficult as finding Golden Age material in CGC 9.4 or better. This format of large strip reprint books is typically in poor to good condition and always seem to be plagued by a major condition issue......missing pages, covers loose, heavy tape repairs, pieces of covers missing, book has come unbound from spine and is in a loose pile etc This book is in better than average condition plus it is a very rare title to begin with. CONDITION OF THIS ITEM: FRONT COVER--complete, close to very good, possibly a little better, which for THIS BOOK is amazing! One of the best copies of this book I have seen in 20 years. BACK COVER--complete but several glue stains from repairs to last 2 pages PAGE COUNT-- 29 physical pages making the page count 58, although the pages are not numbered.NOTE: Overstreet lists the 1905 US edition by the New York Herald at 72 pages. If that count is correct, then this French edition--which IS COMPLETE---is an abbreviated version. I know of 3 French copies and all 3 have the same 58 page count. SPINE-- 75% of fabric missing but book still solidly holds together PAGES--When I note the condition of individual pages below, I am counting a physical page...the entire sheet of paper, both sides. So physical page 12 mentioned below is actually page 23 and 24 in total page count of the book itself. almost all pages have a few small tears to the bottom edge closest to the spine, with many having repairs (sealed) on the reverse blank side of the page (see photo 7) pages with noteworthy defects aside from what was just mentioned.............. 12---creased 13--see photo, large piece off top right edge but does not affect art, large 4" repaired tear, crease 14,15--large "X" shaped crease 16---crease (NOTE---these creased pages 13-16, the crease may be a bindery wrinkle in the paper when originally printed) 19--glue stain lower left, tear repaired on back with large paper square (see photo #9) 25--has tear near spine (26-29 are also all pulled through from the staples) 26 has chipped top edge (see photo #8) 27 chipped top, right edge piece off, lower left small piece off, 2 larger tears repaired (see photos #11 and #12) 28,29--poor condition with bad amateur and excessive glue repairs (see last 4 photos) OFFERS---I list 20,000+ items a month on EBAY.
