Biography: William Johaunes Verdult, known as the “Dutch Master” as a result of the Holland Government’s recognition of him as a “Master Artist and Sculptor,” is one of the very few American Master artists alive today. Mr. Verdult has studied tirelessly under the old masters in Rome, Belgium, Holland, France, and the United States, achieving his own classical style. He is considered one of the most versatile contemporary artists in the world. Though Mr. Verdult did not follow the traditional museum route in displaying and promoting his works, his art followers and personal friends include a list of “who’s who” in Hollywood. Some collectors of his work include: Frank Sinatra, Paul Newman, Elvis Presley, Clint Eastwood, Tom Jones, Jack Lord, Farrah Fawcett, John Wayne, Kim Novak, Telly Savalas, Christina Savalas, Robert Redford, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Lee Majors, Alfred Hitchcock, Georgia Governor George Busbee, Red Skeleton, Dana Mark, Connie Francis, The Lennon Sisters, Gene Autry and Bob Vila. One of William’s most famous collections is his rendition of King Tut Treasures, where he included gold, diamonds, and precious stones on his work. His work has always been displayed and viewed by thousands of patrons in Atlanta, Georgia, Hawaii, Florida, Texas and several other states. Self- taught at a young age, critics have marveled at the diversity of style, technique and subject matter. Very few artists throughout history have been able to incorporate the classical, traditional, modern and avant-garde into such a compelling, distinctive, and multifaceted art style. Throughout his early years he suffered from small-pox and rheumatic fever. Born and raised in Holland during the uncertain back drop of World War II, Mr. Verdult brings a perspective to his paintings that can only be gained by living daily with life and death, good and evil, horror and compassion, victory and defeat. No wonder Verdult is coveted and collected by art lovers the world over. At the age of eleven he moved with his family to America and spent his youth in North Dakota. His family later moved to Long Island New York. To help his family, at age of sixteen he went to work in a machinist factory. After work William spent most of his time in Time Square drawing, painting, watching and studying people of all races and nationalities. At 21, William and his family moved to Newport Beach, California. While exhibiting his work at the Catalina Island Exhibit and at the Laguna Art Festival in California, he caught the attention of Peter Paul Ott, sculptor, whom he studied under. Afterwards he studied with Stanley Brooks and Danny Garcia at the Carmel School of Art. He taught at the school as well. In 1967, he opened his own gallery in Carmel, California. From 1968 through 1977, as a tireless painter known for his 3 am start time, his career took off and he opened galleries in Hawaii, Palm Beach, Florida, Laguna Beach and Palm Springs California. 20 years later he completed his King Tut Treasures Collection, where he incorporated gold, diamonds and precious stones in his paintings. A true philanthropist, Mr. Verdult has donated money and many of his works to charities, state governments, educational centers and foundations. His work entitled “Into The Battle Front” hangs on Top of the Mountain Building in Stone Mountain Park, Georgia. Numerous museums, organizations, universities and leading people have thanked Mr. Verdult for his generous donations to their causes, including The Make a Wish Foundation and the Governors of Georgia and Hawaii. Mr. Verdult’s work can be found in Museums, including Stone Mountain Park, Georgia and the State Foundation of Cultural Arts, Hawaii. I believe a movie should be made about his life . ITS that compelling Good Luck bidding
