Description: Pre-1933 Prohibition era ( German on base says “legal” liquor decanter. Imported spirits to the U.S. probably were allowed. Whimsical and finely detailed glazed ceramic decanter. This well-to-do older gentleman is holding a wooden bowling ball( wood was the material of choice for bowling balls a hundred years ago) with the inscription “GUT HOLZ” which translates to “ Good Wood”. His fat cigar is cleverly the spigot for pouring. The piece presents well at a full 11 inches tall. He is missing his had and the bowling ball may have been repaired. It still is an impressive piece.
