Included is a signed letter from 1970, which mentions the writing and publishing of his first illustrated picture book proceeding the publishing of 'Where the Wild Things Are,' which was titled 'In the Night Kitchen.' Also included is an original sketch drawing by Sendak, which was included in the gifting of his first edition copy to his Aunt Helen in 1970. A volume of utmost rarity, this copy, in the original cloth and original jacket, shows relatively minor wear for its age. Clean interior pages with no writing, underlining or highlighting. Extremities slightly worn. Strong binding and hinges. Some minor shelf wear / foxing and some small tears to dust wrapper as shown. Bottom of front flap clipped. $3.50 still present, with three (3) paragraphs on front flap. Dust wrapper is protected in a high quality mylar sleeve.
