Description: Where In the USA, World, Europe is Carmen SanDiego Broderbund Games Lot Description Up for sale is a lot of vintage PC games pertaining to the Carmen SanDiego series. Included in this lot is Where In The U.S.A. Is Carmen SanDiego?; Where In The World Is Carmen SanDiego?; and Where In Europe Is Carmen SanDiego? All of these games are in vintage 5.25" floppy disk format; with each game only consisting of one disk. There are some manuals and other documentation pertaining to these games which are also included; but off the top of my head I really can't recall which one pertains to which... especially where the software Broderbund catalogs are concerned. At any rate, here's a more detailed breakdown of what's included... Starting with the aforementioned Broderbund software catalog... this catalog is for the year 1988 and the front and rear cover are fold outs. The middle of this catalog also contains an order form (which I didn't manage to get a photo of due to picture limit restraints) as well as the original envelope mailer which is still stapled into the catalog itself. This catalog has a slight touch of wear on it with some minor crease marks showing as well as a bit of foxing on it (i.e. yellowing/spotting brought on by overall age). There's also an additional order form/brochure which features the founders and chief officers of the company (i.e. Doug Carlston, Cathy Carlston, and Gary Carlston... uh, did someone say Nepotism?) Anyways, this folding sheet and envelope appears to have accidentally been pulled from a publication (as there are some visible staple mark holes appearing along one of the folds) but I'm not exactly sure if it originally belonged in the 1988 catalog. Next up there's a Where In Europe Is Carmen SanDiego? User's Manual; also from the year 1988 (which may be where the aforementioned catalog came from). This manual has been hole punched into a small blue binder which has a logo branding located on the lower left inner pocket flap (towards the bottom of it actually) that reads National and a little besides that, it reads 68-859 (which I'm assuming must be the model number of this binder) along with the material it's made from; Virgin Vinyl listed underneath that and finally a Made in USA stamp appearing directly underneath that. Additionally, there's a large fold out map with a list of characters (or dossiers of the criminals, if you will) that appear in the game. Following that is a red Scrapbook which I'm not sure is meant to be a user's manual or just an accompanying document to one of the games included in this lot. Unfortunately, I really can't figure which one it pertains to exactly, but it's definitely not the Europe game, for this one is dated 1986... so I can only assume that it must pertain to the Where In The World Is Carmen SanDiego? game (more on that later). Additionally, there's also a large fold out map that's very similar to the other one, which contains a map of the United States; and thus I figure it must be for the same exact title. Please note that the perforations on these two manuals have caused a bit of wear on the publications themselves; appearing mostly in the form of crease marks. These punched holes may have also affected some of the text and/or graphics printed on the pages to a slight degree as well. Now; as for the game disks themselves... the Where In The U.S.A. Is Carmen SanDiego? blue label 5.25" floppy disk is listed as the IBM PC/PC XT/PC AT/PCjr version and has a product identifier of sorts written on it as IBMDSK 463. The Where In Europe Is Carmen SanDiego? game is noted as the IBM/TANDY and 100% compatibles version of the game and I don't see a product code on it like the aforementioned game disk had. Both of these disks have a slight touch of wear on them brought on by overall age with the label on the Europe disk showing signs of fading (with spotting on it) on what would have been a bright yellow background label. Each of these disks also has a right protect sticker placed on them (which was probably done to prevent accidental usage of these disks back in the day without first having made a copy of them and playing the game off of those copied disks instead). Then, there's the Where In The World Is Carmen SanDiego? game which has a pretty faded and rough looking green label on it. This disk is labeled as the MS-DOS Version for the Blue Chip Computer which is also listed as an Interactive Demo Disk. Now... if I remember correctly, this disk was actually given to us by a family member's co-worker back in the day and thus wasn't actually something that I had originally owned (with the original manuals/documents/and what have you) which is why I suspected that the Scrapbook pertained to the Where In The U.S.A. game instead of this one. I don't actually recall ever managing to get this game to work because it required some information listed on the accompanying documentation for the game (which we didn't have back then). And judging by various other listings out there, I don't even think that the branded floppy disk sleeve is the right one that pertains to it either; for this game is always shown with a grey Broderbund sleeve, and not this one which seems to have a slightly brighter reddish looking font on it; as opposed to the other two which look more like burnt sienna. I also think that the same applies to one of the other games to, but I'm not really sure as I've seen various listings out there with the same greyish looking sleeve to it. This interactive demo disk doesn't have the copy protection label on it either... which is probably because we could never get it to run after making a copy of it and all back in the day; so it was just left as is with the very worn looking label on it (which also looks like it's starting to peel off and whatnot). Also included is a copy of Rand McNally's Concise Atlas of Europe published by Broderbund in 1988; which I believe was originally included with the Where In Europe game. This book has a bit of wear on the cover (specifically along the spline) with the pages and cover themselves exhibit a bit of foxing on them as well. Finally, the other book included in this lot is a copy of Fodor's USA Broderbund Edition which is purportedly based on the 1986 edition of Fodor's USA (with a note that it may not be up to date) and yet it has a copyright of 1985; which makes this book a rather confusing anomaly if that information is not some of misprint. This book also shares the same degree of wear on it that's discernible on both the outside cover and on the pages themselves; appearing mostly in the form of foxing... but I guess you can say that both of these books just exhibit the typical hallmarks of a book that was kept on a shelf for who knows how long (since the late eighties) and just picked up a bit of dust on them (which was also cleaned up for the purpose of this sale, mind you). Anyways, while this book may have obviously been something that might have originally been included with the copy of the Where In The USA game; I somehow seem to remember having to purchase it separately for use with the Prodigy online version of the Carmen SanDiego series. But don't quote on that because my memory is not really what it used to be... especially when it comes to this game series. I honestly can't remember anything at all about this game. The only one that I remember playing every now and again was Where In Time Is Carmen SanDiego and it turns out that I somehow wound up with a copy of that game back in the day and didn't even have an actual retail version of that installment... go figure! Anyways, what's important to note here is that all of the items contained in this lot exhibit some wear on them. None of the disks have been tested (as I don't have access to a fully working 5.25" floppy disk at the moment) and thus are all being sold in as-is/untested condition. Furthermore, no original game boxes are available for this lot, either. What you see in the pictures is what you get if you win this fixed priced auction. Being that these games fetch quite a penny on today's market, I'm pricing this lot accordingly... and I guarantee that none of the other lots out there have the aforementioned accompanying Broderbund branded books; so please be sure to get in on this deal while it still lasts, for my loss is your gain as they say in the trade!
