Co. The stone is of clear body with orange to brown bands and is spotted with dark brown inclusions. It looks like a sunset over a glassy lake. The the stone measures approx. 23mm x 7mm agate and feels firmly fixed in its setting. Twisted silver frames the sawtooth bezel-set stone. The shoulders have a split shank with a trio of graduated dots on alternate sides. The ring was finished with a sturdy shank and measures a size 3.25, The inside is stamped, "sterling" (silver) and signed, "WM" with "c" over "W" and "o" under "M" (hallmark that Wheeler Mfg. Co. began using in 1962). The Wheeler Mfg. Co. was established in 1936 in Lemmon, SD" and produced mainly agate jewelry until 1946. In the Southwest they used local artists (possibly trade shops) to create beautiful works of art using fine gemstones.
