Description: WebVinyl Presents! Alan Price “The Whales Of August Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” Original 1987 First Pressing 33-1/3 RPM 12” Translucent Vinyl Soundtrack LP! No Reserve! DESCRIPTION Alan Price - “The Whales Of August Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” Varese Sarabande Records STV 81347 (Stereo) from 1987. Hard to find First Pressing Translucent Vinyl Original Soundtrack album from “The Whales Of August” the 1987 Oscar nominated movie starring Bette Davis, Lilian Gish, Vincent Price, Ann Sothern and Harry Carey, Jr. with Music Composed, by Alan Price (yes, the same as in The Animals!). Arranged and Conducted by Derek Wadsworth. In the Original Cover with No Barcode, Cutouts or promo markings. Pressed on Black Vinyl which is Translucent when held before a bright light - probably an Audiophile Vinyl like Quiex II or KC 569 Blend Premium Virgin Vinyl by KM Records. CONDITION The Sleeve is in nice shape. There is some very slight shelf wear, edge creasing and corner softening / wear. There is a crease in the lower left corner. Super solid with no splits, stains, tears, cutouts, writing, etc. and would rate at least VG+. The Vinyl is in pristine Glossy condition looking barely played and possibly even Unplayed. If you really look closely you might be able to spot a light scuff or two but very close to New condition and easily Near Mint. The Labels are also Near Mint. If I provide Play Grades it is done as a courtesy but I only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words: Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less! If you are not satisfied that a purchase meets my description, I will do what I can to make it right if you give me the chance and work with me! Please feel free to check my feedback.
