Description: For the Baseball Hobbyist . . . ~ 1953-1955 Artvue Hall of Fame plaque postcard ~ Walter Perry "The Big Train" Johnson ~ Washington Senators ~ Type 1 (bolt holes open) ~ The Artvue Post Card Co. of New York City, for the period 1952-1963, was the official producer of the National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum's plaque postcards. Each card was produced in 3-1/2" by 5-1/2" size and featured the bronze plaques in black & white. Like their predecessor the Albertype Company, two styles of cards were issued. Baseball hobbyists have designated the 1953-1955 cards as Type 1. These are identified by open bolt holes in each HOF plaque. Type 2's, however, have the bolt holes filled with baseballs. This particular card is a Type 1. Type 1 Artvues are significantly more difficult to find than Type 2's. Condition: Very Good/Excellent or better; card measures slightly LARGER than 3-1/2" by 5-1/2" - but please check the high resolution scans (front and back) and judge for yourself.
