Description: This is one of the best string synthesizers to ever hit the market. Although the developers studied multiple vintage string synths when referencing the built-in sounds, it is a very unique offering on its own, and it can surely compete with renown string synths from all eras. Don't just take my word for it, listen for the Streichfett (with eyes-shut) in the video "Ultimate Vintage String Synth Comparison" from WilliamSalmela's YouTube channel.Only thing Waldorf could have done better, in my opinion, was to integrate velocity sensitivity for this desktop-oriented module, but you will probably forget your playing w/o velocity while using the crescendo (attack) and release parameters, they'll suffice your needs on that respect. Moreover, the clarity of the tones are outstanding on every selection, and have a splendid signature 'sting'-like shimmer. The condition is bordering on mint, not so, due to minor (and very hard to identify) marks on the knobs and plate, which are also replaceable. Truthfully, the only reason why am selling the Streichfett is because I will be upgrading to a different iteration of the same product from Waldorf; The STVC. Which complements my setup, more geared towards live playing, with a built-in keyboard and added velocity. Nonetheless, if you already own a keyboard, and are looking to expand your palette of sounds with interestingly-curated tones, this edition works best for it has a small footprint. In short: If you don't buy it, I won't be mad. I get to keep it! From official product pageStreichfett combines the best of the previously extinct species of String Synthesizers of the 70s and early 80s. Its dual sound engine features a fully polyphonic strings section and an eight voice solo section, which is essential for recreating classic movie sounds from the 70s and 80s. The Ensemble Effect provides depth and movement to the String Section, while the Effects section adds adjustable Phaser and Reverb. Additionally, the Animate Effect can be used to modulate the strings registration, allowing spectacular sound morphs. The Solo Section offset presets named Bass, E-Piano or Clavi, and just like in your typical string machine, the sound has little to do with that name. Instead, these are shimmering and slightly percussive sounds that blend well with the string section.Although the User Interface is simple and easy to comprehend, it controls a rather complex sound engine which is capable to deliver rich and creamy pads unlike any other instrument. Twelve patches can be stored and selected in the Memory section, USB and MIDI are of course on board.
