Description: Extraordinary condition vintage 1960s vintage Hendrix vest ~curated from a groupie of Jimi Hendrix who lived in Sedona Description: Dark Red velvet with metallic gold soutache trimmings & mirror work details Soutache is a decorative technique of thread wrapped around cords and completely covering the cores; woven of metallic bullion thread. The vest is heavily decorated with Afghani motifs, and mirrors. It has no buttons or closure,and is fully lined with blue cotton. There are two set-in pockets stacked on top of each other on both the proper left and proper right exterior fronts. On the interior, the vest is fully lined with a pocket on the left interior. This is one of two vests I have and it is definitely in mint condition! [The other is black velvet-similar, so check my other listings.] I know Hendrix wore several exactly like this one- see pics! Last 2 images show a vest that sold at auction for $60k - supposedly an actual Hendrix vest given to a manager during the UK tour at the Royal Albert Hall, I believe. Afghan vests were definitely the hip style aesthetic in the late 60s/early 70s. This was either one the groupie bought for him or he perhaps left with her- it arrived wrapped in archival tissue paper- flat in a box- and will he shipped flat in a box to you to assure it arrives safely. It is NOT fragile or worn- extremely rare in this mint & flawless condition! Original tag was in the front pocket, marked size Medium Measurements: 20 in wide x 20 in length.
