Description: VTG Concho Belt Sterling Silver Coral Tufa Cast Navajo Native American Signed This is an incredible and unique Native American concho belt from the 1990s. The belt has a unique 2-piece buckle that eliminates the need to have holes punched in the leather. The eight individual conchos is where the uniqueness is. Each one is half tufa cast and half symmetrical sunburst stamp work. In the middle of each is a one-of-a-kind piece of coral set in a serrated bezel. Finally, small silver Native American symbols are overlaid on each concho, each one different from the other (hand, bear, goat, turtle, etc.). There's a lot to see across this belt. Tip to tip, the belt is 42 1/2" long. The leather is doubled over on both ends such that the belt can be extended several inches more (or shortened, for that matter). The two pieces of the buckle are each 2" wide and 1 1/2" tall. The hook on the one end extends about 1/2". The leather is 1" wide. The eight conchos are each 2" wide and 1 1/2" tall. The coral cabochons are variable in size, but in general are 1/2" by 1/4". The belt as its pictured is a significant 294 g. The artist's hallmark is what appears to be a conjoined "YE" under the outline of a butte or mesa. Also stamped on the back is "IHMSS" for Indian Handmade Sterling Silver. This belt was obtained from an estate in southern Arizona. Touch of Turquoise invites you to Wear the West! Domestic USPS shipping with insurance is included.
