The red globes sit on top of the switch so you need to take off globe to turn off the switch but you can buy a clicker for it from Amazon. Shade sits on top of the ledge as shown Please go through all pictures The globes are older than the lamps. They have bubbles and imperfections which makes them even better in my humble opinion. Standing at 25”, you can put in a brighter bulb but one of those flickering candle bulbs would make these complete. Talk about atmosphere!!! No cracks in globe.
