Description: This rare advertising key chain was a SAMPLE promotional item for PROGRESSIVE AUTO SALES CO., Rivers Bend, Ohio customers. The cylindrical case meant to hold lead for mechanical pencils displays an amazingly clear image of (and this is only a guess based on viewing photographs) a 1946 Plymouth Deluxe as the "1946 Model Cars" written on the piece suggests. The motto "THE ONE YOU WAITED FOR" either means that customers were looking forward to that particular model, or, that they were saving up as it was VERY expensive for the time. And check out their old LETTER PREFIX telephone numbers...for SALES...GO-1234... and for SERVICE...GO-5678. A real hoot unless they were using fake numbers for the "Sample-L15" which seems unlikely. Plastic case measures 3" in length with a 3/8" diameter. The little round opening seen in Photo # 6 probably released lead when held upside down. Removable lid simply pulls off and pushes on.
