Description: This Atomic Espresso Coffee Maker was imported from Italy by Thomas E. Cara in San Francisco- Thomas E Cara was a coffee maker and had a great little shop in San Francisco which is where we purchased this Atomic in about 1975. It includes the paper instruction insert that originally came with it. There is also some information from the internet on the Atomic that I have printed and will include. See pics for full condition details. This is vintage, used and being sold "as is" and as pictured. This Atomic may possibly need service. It has not been used regularly for a long time. Was working when it was put away in the cupboard. I recently tested it with water, and it seemed to work fine. There are maintenance instructions in the leaflet. It is missing the original rod that would stop the flow of coffee while you use the steam function. Not entirely necessary but handy. I am including a wooden dowel like the one we used for years after the original rod went missing. I believe you could find a stainless or metal rod at the hardware store that would also work for this purpose, however we were fine with the wooden one, replacing it as needed. The Atomic stovetop espresso machine was originally introduced during the Atomic Age (1945-1960) - This elegant, simple mid-century design ensures a trouble-free operation. - This stovetop machine can be used to make Espresso, Latte, Cappuccino, Macchiato, Mocha or Americano (Long Black) - Several companies imported the original Italian-made Atomic - with their own name added to the label on the top of the machine. The machine is of aluminum construction and this model is painted brown with the aluminum pot and has Bakelite handles.
