Description: SMOKE FREE HOME!! Payment due within 48 hours after auction's end. PLEASE VIEW ALL PICTURES---THEY ARE AS MUCH A PART OF THE AUCTION AS THE DESCRIPTION! You are bidding on a VTG GRANDMA QUILT • THIS QUILT WAS LOVINGLY USED BACK IN THE DAY and STORED FOR MANY YEARS• UPDATE: This quilt was made in the 50's and presented as a graduation gift in 1959. The material dated back to the 40's/50s. • THIS QUILT IS JUST GREAT -- you know you're holding a piece of history when holding this gem• MADE IN USA by a tireless grandma • Grandma and friends always used old clothing/sheeting/flour sack and feed sack extra material for her quilts (this one is all machine stitched with some quilting here and there)• Nice patchwork with red sashing and trim (squares are 6 across and 7 down -- 42 in all, if my math is correct)• The red part was machine stitched and I don't know about the blocks themselves (the grandmas had an old treadle Singer that they sewed on)• Nice VINTAGE cotton quilt -- JUST USE IT or DISPLAY IT in its vintage state at a museum or behind glass. Any laundering or stain treatment is left to buyer, especially on the older textiles• Pictures taken inside were on a FULL SIZED BED in natural daylight (no flash) • Pictures taken outside may show sunlight coming through or shadowing on some of the pictures • KNOWN ISSUES: A few of the squares have some holes near the seams or elsewhere; the batting is clumping up inside the quilt (because this is hand-tied off with yarn/string, it would be easy to take it apart and finish it differently)• 66x74" (would fit a TWIN or maybe a FULL SIZED BED quite nicely)• GREAT FOR FARMHOUSE DECOR, OLD MUSEUM DISPLAY, BED & BREAKFAST DECOR...OR...cut it up for crafts• This quilt topper is OLD, but has SO MUCH LOVE & TALENT in it -- it is worthy of being saved• I am not a quilter but my grandmas, great-grandmas and great-aunts were; so I can only state what I have been told about these quilts by my 82 year old mother and 88 year old aunt• Just a nice, thick quilt made of remnant pieces of material by a very thrifty grandma• THICK/WINTER WEIGHT--double thickness plus a thick batting • OFTEN TIMES, I shrink wrap the quilts to fit them into flat rate boxes -- the quilts bounce right out of the shrink wrap, but I do this to save the buyer money on shipping (PLEASE DO NOT USE BOX CUTTERS, KNIVES OR SCISSORS to open the shrink wrap, instead just unwrap it and enjoy the quilt) This quilt blanket is in structurally good previously owned condition (FAIR to GOOD USED CONDITION). Moderately used back in the day, with lots of opportunity for crafting, repair or display. Please review all pictures and zoom in to do your own due diligence to get a good overview of the condition of this item. The pictures are an important part of the description of this item, capturing things I may have missed. NO RETURNS, AS IS - SALE IS FINAL. (If I ever agree to accept a return, Buyer pays all shipping--both original and return shipping to seller)Please understand what you are purchasing in this auction. Please email questions before bidding. SHIPPING to any of the 50 U.S. STATES. APO/FPO/PO BOXES WELCOME. SERIOUS U.S. BIDDERS ONLY! Thanks for looking. :)
