Description: This is a crisp cotton Day Dress with a swingy skirt, straight out of the 1940s or 1950s. Gorgeous color (photos dont do justice), very nearly pristine (but please do see my seller notes and photos). From my own collection and not worn for decades. I believe this crisp cotton to be Percale (strong, very cool on a hot day) with a subtle, unusual waffle texture. The skirt is long which may mean postwar when fabric was plentiful and long was the style. There is a darling tie for the back waist which allows for a little waist size adjustment. Three buttons are a really pretty pearlescent plastic. Collar, short Raglan sleeves (so comfortable). No side zipper (maybe dress IS from WWII when metal zippers weren't available). Instead there is a unique little extra-fabric area at side waist, with a snap, to allow for easier on-off. It really does not show at all--I never knew it was there until today! Darling little epaulettes at the shoulders sport vintage rhinestone Twin Pins (missing one small stone). These pins stand in for the original pins or buttons and are easy to remove for laundering or replacing with your own fabulous vintage baubles. No label, suggesting that this dress may have been made at home by a fine and disciplined seamstress--another argument for WWII era. Whatever, 1940s and 50s vintage dresses just don't come so close to "Like New" very often. Exceptional, and in such a pretty shade of blue! Please read everything, see all the photos, and let me know if you have questions. Thanks very much.
