Description: This bracelet was made to be given to a sweetheart during wartime. This one was Made by the DF Briggs Company before 1923, because after 1922, the company name changed. This bracelet became quite popular because It had a unique expandable bellows mechanism which fit just about any wrist. The bracelet was named “Carmen” by the company. This bracelet also has a moderate fit and was washed with gold, giving it a gorgeous and delicate look. The bracelet is used, but in really good condition. It fits easily over my hand and closes nicely on my wrist. I wear a 6.5 bracelet. This is a neat keepsake from the WWI era. The oldest bracelet by DF Briggs Company was called Carmen and was marketed by the DFB Co brand. However, in 1922, this brand became known as Briggs, Bates&Bacon Co. That is why we can assume with absolute certainty that this Carmen bracelet is symbolic of someone’s sweetheart who fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918. If you are a collector of WWI memorabilia, this bracelet will add a sentimental touch to your collection.
