Description: The is a classic Wagner Ware No 5 (1055E). This was the last series of skillets produced (1935-1959). Starting in 1960, "Made in USA" appeared on all cast iron cookware. The pan is in full restored condition and ready to use. The cooking surface has hints of fine etching from corrosion and hints of utensil scores. These are undetectable as you glide your fingers over a near glass smooth surface. Two sheets of printer paper slipped under one edge on the bottom stops movement on a granite surface. No chips, cracks or repairs and does not spin.Test for flatness of skillet. With the skillet resting on a polished granite surface, press down all along the top rim searching for movement. If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under one edge of the until pot stops moving. Item was stripped down to bare metal using collector approved lye bath and electrolysis treatments. This process ensures the removal all residue from previous use making it safe to use once more. Item is lightly seasoned with one round of Crisco at 450 for 1 hours. This item was photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, item may take on a brown color. Items are much darker under normal light.
