Description: This unusual old Suzani textile was handcrafted during the mid to late 1900's in Uzbekistan, Central Asia. More measurements are listed at the end of this description. Suzani are a distinctive kind of embroidered textile from Central Asia - especially from Uzbekistan and surrounding regions where they have been handcrafted for centuries. They are multi-functional, used interchangeably as table coverings, bed spreads, wall hangings, and shawls - and even as fabrics for making clothing and bags. This large old suzani has a red silk base-cloth that is the color of pomegranates. The embroidery designs depicts an arch in the center, surrounded by a profusion of vibrant flowers and trees-of-life - symbols of abundance and prosperity. The borders were were fringed on all sides. It has 2 loops on top if you want to hang it on the wall. Nice textile. Dry clean only.
