Description: This traditional Turkmen (Turkoman) pendant was handcrafted during the mid-1900's for the Esari sub-tribe along the Old Silk Road of Central Asia. More measurements are listed at the end of this description. In excellent condition, it was handmade in 90% silver with a scalloped-floral shape. The vibrant red stone is a beautiful carnelian - a favorite stone for jewelry in Turkmenistan. This is a sturdy pendant, and does not bend. It has a warm age-patina - patina reflects the light when photographed, so items often look brighter in images than they really are. To show relative size, I placed it on a display necklace-cord to photograph as a necklace.
