Description: Vintage Turkeman Balutch Afghan Hand Knotted Wool Prayer Rug This is a wonderful thick pile prayer rug made in the 1960s in northern Afghanistan. It has classic geometric designs that are from tribes in the region. The center area has geometric flower designs in red and golden brown against a dark blue background. Around this center design is a border of alternating red and golden brown flowers against a dark blue background. The rug is bordered by a linked dark blue design against a red background. This rug has deep rich dark blue and deep red which contrasts wonderfully with the golden browns, Nice tight weave at 196 knots per square inch. This rug is in perfect unused condition and has obviously been stored since it was made. This rug is notable for its thick pile and deep rich red and dark blue. Measures 61 inches by 34 inches.
