Description: 🍺 THEWALT Musical Lidded Stein #161 - Trink, Trink Bruderlein The tag on the handle identifies this stein as THEWALT. This hand painted German beer stein appears to have a amorous theme with a central picture of a man kissing a woman on the cheek surrounded by pictures of the two seated with his arm around her. Under the first scene is the phrase "o, wielche Lust" which translates to "what desire" and under the last scene is the phrase "auf der Alm" which translates to "on the alpine pasture". Look at the white cherubs blowing a trumpet that encircle the stein below the main pictures. The colors on this stein are vibrant contrasting the dark blue background and banding to the lighter tan tones. The handle appears to be similar to a grape vine. The top has attractive raised scroll-work banding and is integrated to the thumb lift all of which appears to be pewter. Beneath the handle, it is numbered 161 of this stein series. I found a similar stein sold from Harp Gallery that indicates this stein is about 40 years old. When this German stein is raised off the table, the music box in the base plays "Trink Bruderlein, Trink," or Drink, Little Brother, Drink, a traditional German drinking song. The stein is in very good condition with no chips or cracks and plays as expected. It has never been used and has only been displayed in a glass fronted cabinet. My father-in-law collected steins (he had about 200+) and this was inherited by us in 2000. He generally purchased only high-quality steins. I am not an expert in steins so please do your own research and ask questions or for additional pictures, so you are satisfied. Overall height is 9" and stein weighs 1.8 pounds without packing. All purchases final - no refunds.
