Description: vintage TARKA BLOCK WOOD FLUTE At the lower end of the flute is carved BOLIVIA for the country where the flute was hand carved. The carving features faces and symbols, especially jagged rectangles perhaps symbolic of thunder. It is also decorated with another reddish color, probably from a varnish. This flute is carved on three sides with the back side plain wood. There is one nail at the back of the mouthpiece which probably secures the wood there. With six finger holes, the flute has a low and a higher range when played. It measures 19-1/2" long, 1-1/2" wide, and 1-1/4" thick. Very good condition although this flute appears to have been played or used. There seems to be small wear areas to the mouthpiece at the corners. A few little knocks or wear spots to the varnish on the body and around the finger holes. Thanks for looking!
