Description: Vintage postcard-Butlers Flat light house. Butler Flats Light house is a "sparkplug" style lighthouse located in the outer harbor of New Bedford, Massachusetts, at the mouth of the Acushnet River. Built in 1898 by the United States Lighthouse Board, it is the only known caisson lighthouse designed by a marine architect. Courtesy of Wikipedia. The back side of this post card contains a personal message and a U.S. 1 cent postage stamp. It was cancelled in 1909 I believe. The post card has slightly rounded corners and is slightly soiled.
