Description: This beautifully rendered mountain landscape painting features majestic mountains in shades of green. At the base there are thick forest green trees and a clear blue-green stream with lush bright green grass covering the banks. The background sky is a pale aqua-green. The medium is oil on masonite, signed "Rumky". I could not locate any information on the artist, or the age of the piece, but would estimate this piece was painted in the 1960's - early 1970's based on the medium (masonite) and frame style. I was able to find other posted Rumky pieces, and they were all framed in a similar mid-century style (although not as elaborate). The frame is a real star with this piece, especially if you love mid-century. It is solid wood, very heavy, stained a deep cherry. It has a linen border and a burnished gold inner rim - very typical of the 60's and early 70's. There's a sticker on the back of the frame for the "Nouveaux Art Gallery" in New York, so it's possible this was a gallery piece. I don't know if this was the original frame, or if the painting was placed in the frame at a later date. Either way, it is a quality painting with a great mid-century vibe that is much more striking in person that the photographs convey. It's simply a lovely, original piece of art for any lover of the mountains and outdoors. The picture (on masonite) itself is in excellent condition, with no visible stains, tears, or holes. The frame has some normal wear, but no significant scratches, scuffs or gouges. The linen border in the frame has some minor age-related discoloration, but no stains or tears. The masonite board is firmly mounted to the frame - nothing loose. The hanging bracket is secure and sturdy. Please see photos for more detail.
