This is a vintage Mid Century Modern coastal landscape oil painting. The painting depicts a view of Cannes, France, where the annual Film Festival is held (see photos). This would make a great gift for a California movies star, producer or director who had competed at the festival in Cannes. The painting is painted on canvas. The artist is an original work of art oil painting. The painting is painted in a Modernist Expressionist style (see photos). The painting is vintage (see photos). The painting is framed in a carved wood gold gilt or gold painted picture frame. The item is from an estate liquidation (see photos). This painting is painted by the American California artist: John Lentine Jr (1930-1968). The painting is signed by the artist on the front (lower left-hand corner), the item is titled: CANNES, dated for 1958 and signed by the artist on the back side of the canvas (see photos). The artwork retains the original paper art gallery label for, Charles Feingarten Contemporary Art of Chicago, IL, Illinois on the back side of the painting (see photos). The painting's original price in 1958 was four hundred dollars (the equivalent price in today's dollars would be about four thousand two hundred and forty-five dollars). The painting in total framed measures in total about 29.5 inches high, and it is about 44.5 inches wide. The painting portion without the picture frame measures about 21 inches high, and it is about 36 inches wide. The is artwork is sold in as is as found estate condition. The picture frame has some scuffs, some scratches, some finish losses and some wear (see photos). The painting has some tears in the canvas, crazing to the paint and some wear (see photos and / or written description for the condition of this item). This is a nice vintage original artwork oil painting of Cannes, France by a well known California Modernist American to add to your collection. Here is some information about this artist: "John Lentine was born in Rochester, New York on October 19, 1930. Lentine studied at the Pratt Institute of Art. He died in Los Angeles on February 29, 1968.
