Can easily extend in height to around an additional 5" ~ 8" Inches when fully retracted. Weighs in at around or close to 20 pounds in my opinion. Great feature to have on this stool, is the ability to set the seating height. The freight charge represents the special custom packaging, oversize charge, handling, freight and insurance to arrive safely at your doorstep.
