Description: This listing is for a Rare and Amazing Vintage Japanese Uchide-No-Kozuchi Metal Lucky Hammer Mallet. A legendary Japanese hammer, the name translates as “Magic Hammer”, “Miracle Mallet” and, in English, as “Magic Wishing Mallet”. It is said that swinging the mallet grants its holder’s wishes. According to popular belief, the enchanted wooden hammer is grasped by the deity Daikoku-ten, whose likeness is depicted in figurines, statues, netsukes, and architectural elements within Japanese culture. This is from an estate sale and I was told the family was given this special mallet by the captain of an Asian ship for good luck. I believe this was created in the 1950s. The metal mallet is heavy, made of layers of varying medals. There is some wear on to the mallet’s initial layer but otherwise is excellent shape with no nicks, dents or scratches. Beautiful orange tassels adorn the mallet. Measures approx. 8” long x 4 ½” high x 4” deep. Approx. Weighs 2 lb. 13 oz. before shipping materials. Last sold at auction for $260. A true treasure that is extremely hard to find! Please check ALL of the images as they are part of the description and we want you to be pleased with your purchase. And, let me know if you would like any additional photos or have any questions. Thank you for looking and Happy Shopping!
