Description: This small wooden bird pin is painted and lacquered. He has a yellow breast, brown head and yellow, brown and orange feathers on his wings, back and tail. The functional clasp is a small safety pin, half buried in the wood. He measures 2 inches across horizontally from beak to tail tip, and 1 inch down from the beak to the branch. He's in the style of the bird pins by Takahashi, but does not have the characteristics of one. Instead of twisted metal legs, the feet are carved from the wood of the branch they sit on, and he does not have the typical metal clasp that's attached with 2 small screws or has small sharp prongs on each end that are pressed into the wood. I do think that this is an older pin. There are some small spots of wear on the lacquer and paint, notably on the eye and wing. A small triangular area at the tip of the wing is bare of both lacquer and paint.
