Description: This vintage Japanese Geisha Hagoita Festival Paddle features a woman in a kimono with an elaborate hairdo and flower hairpin holding a tsuzumi hand drum. It is beautifully made in oshie (raised cloth) style to create more dimension. Originally used in the game of Hanetsuki, the Hagoita is thought to drive away evil spirits. The back of the paddle is beautifully decorated with hand painted flowers and has a stamped mark. This would be a beautiful addition to any Japanese collection.
