Description: This is a vintage Japanese bronze bowl known as a Kensui or ochakoboshi (waster water bowl) used in a Japanese sado / chado (tea ceremony). During the tea ceremony the tea bowl is rinsed once to warm the bowl and another time to rinse it clean. The water used to rinse the tea bowl is drained into a Kensui such as this. This bowl measures 5 1/2" in diameter by 3 3/4" tall (14 x 9.5 cm). Along with a nice aged patina, it remains in very fine condition. You'll love it, I guarantee it.........
