Description: For sale is a vintage Maria Bambina 3rd class touch relic. The words on the front translate from Italian to "Cottonwool touched to the Simulacrum of Infant Mary." This I believe refers to the life-size wax image of Infant Mary in Milan, Italy, called "Maria Bambina", which many cures are attributed to."Simulacrum" means an "image" or "representation." Most touch relics are cloth touched to another relic, but thisone is cotton wool which has been touched to the "Maria Bambina"wax image in Milan, Italy. The outside of this item is just foldedpaper holding the cotton wool inside. This item measures approx. 2" wide by 7/8" high. This item is vintage and has age and wear.See photos for details.Thank you for looking!(30) ***PLEASE NOTE*** 3rd class relics are much different from 1st and 2nd class relics. First and 2nd class relics are rare, are considered sacred, and are usually found in churches. First class relics are actually from the body of the saint like a strand of hair.Second class relics are something the saint owned like a Bible or a piece of clothing. 3rd class are just "touch" relics. They are pieces of cloth that have been touched to a1st or 2nd class relic and then cut up into tiny pieces and put into medals, holders, etc... It may have been a piece of cloth that was touched to the saint, touched their tomb, or touched to anything they owned or wore. I only sell 3rd class relics which I have bought over the years at various sales, and for themost part, I have no history of the items.
