Description: This vintage unusual small Ikebana basket from Kyoto, Japan would be a unique addition to any collection. Hand-woven with skill and care, this basket showcases the Japanese culture's artistic heritage. The early provenance of this item is not available, but we purchased it used .....while visiting kyoto in the 1970's where i studied briefly at the ikenobo school of ikebana. seven inches.... and simply charming ... the basket crafted with attention to detail, and is a testament to the Japanese cultures interest in nature and flowers. . The intricate design showing a curved wave in the front and various techniques. we enjoy rich brown color and the use of natural fibers including bamboo the rectangular bottom is strengthened with what we think is bamboo which also appears to be part of the handle. we love the square handle shape and the interesting rectangular base. interesting that the top of the basket portion is oval. a pleasing design. perfect for those who appreciate the beauty of Japanese art, syle, and tradition. please see our photos as they are an important part of our listing description. thank you for looking.
