Description: Up for your consideration is a lovely pitcher by the Mid Century Canadian potter Herta Gertz (1919-2005). It measures 7 1/2''" tall and 4 1/2" wide with the handle. This hand made hand-made piece features a dark rich ebony brown glaze with teal, and a white and a flower motif. The bottom is marked Hand-Decor by Herta 2600 Canada. As photos show this piece is in excellent vintage condition with no noticeable chips or cracks. About the artist : Herta Gertz, was born in Hanau, Germany, and emigrated to Canada in the early 1950's. With her husband, she established B.C. Ceramics, Vancouver, in the mid 1950's. Her production included work with experimental glazes and abstract sgraffito designs, that helped define Canadian mid century ceramic design.
