Description: Vintage Freeman McFarlin Nude Mermaid Planter Soap Dish c.1958 For sale is a gorgeous, vintage ceramic mermaid planter/soap dish manufactured circa 1958 by the Freeman McFarlin Pottery Company of El Monte, CA (1951-1980). From the waist up the mermaid is flesh-colored and unglazed. She has blond hair with a painted gold band around the base of her ponytail. The top surface of the scalloped shell soap dish, as well as the entirety of the of the lower extremities, are glazed, with the tail accented in a gold-lustre wash. The item measures approximately 8 inches tall by 7 inches long by 5 inches wide and is incised on the bottom: 19©58 Freeman McFarlin USA. The piece is in EXCELLENT condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, touch-ups or crazing. The mermaid planter/soap dish is one of the most visually magnificent items in the entire Freeman McFarlin product line, and this example, being of exceptional quality, would be a welcome addition to any collection!
