Vintage Excellent 1950s Mallory Beaver 20 Homburg 7-1/8 & Box? Stetson

Description: Here’s an EXCELLENT 1950s Mallory Black Homburg, Size 7-1/8. It’s a very high quality BEAVER! This is definitely of Mallory’s highest quality hats they ever made! The hat was found inside the box unshaped, with an Open Crown. It’s was easily hand bashed with a center dent, then hand bashed into a pinched crown, with you a touch of the fingers! We considered rating this as a TwentyFive because it’s just as soft and thick and pliable as the Stetson TwentyFive that we have sitting here in front of us but dad says to rate it as a Twenty to be very conservative! It is easily hand bashed into a pinched crown fedora but we have left the shaping with that center dent (dad did steam in the center dent, it could easily be removed and left as an Open Crown, just write to us) only. If you’d like it steamed into a pinched crown please write to us. Since we were looking at some of dad’s Stetson Beaver hats we took down one of his 1950s St. Regis Homburgs to compare it to. Now there is NOTHING wrong with these Stetson Homburg hats but they are all Beaver Fifteens! The Mallory is just a much higher grade of beaver! The original size on the tag states “7” but this measures to a PERFECT 7-1/8, at 22-3/8 inches, see last picture and read below. We wrote New with Defects because it appears to have never been worn. But if it was worn it wasn’t worn but a handful of times and put away. Perfect leather sweatband, NO a moth bites, liner is completely secured to hat and a faint signs of yellowing from age. It’s a fantastic hat! No loose threads! The grosgrain ribbon is perfect! This is easily “hand bashed” into a pinched crown but So many folks have asked dad if he will steam a pinched crown (see picture to get an idea how it will look, that’s just pushed in so it will be steamed into the hat and the lines will be better defined once it’s steamed into the hat) into the hat? Dad will do that if you write to us after you buy the hat. If you look through dad’s other listings you will find a couple that he has already done that to, they are really beautiful. It’s just the classic, black color with a perfect black grosgrain ribbon. It’s so very rare to find these in such excellent condition! Please look at all the pictures of every angle! There’s nothing to hide! Note as we were taking pictures my grandson did see a tiny issue under the brim. There is a very tiny surface rub or maybe it’s a few grouped surface moth bite chews. See picture he took afterwards. It’s not seen and very tiny! The beaver is very very soft and thick. We compared it to dad’s own 1950s Stetson 3X, Ten, Twenty and TwentyFive. The best fit was the Beaver TwentyFive but we will be very very conservative and rate as a Beaver Twenty, it’s just so very soft and thick and so easily “bashed” into a pinched crown. Note: the Mallory box is available. This box is still in great condition with the original hat holding insert set. Just a bit of minor paper wear but well worthy of storing, displaying and shipping! We offer the hat box as an extra. Many folks do not want to pay for the extra shipping and cost of the hat box. If you want the hat box please write to us. It will add $50 to the overall price, which includes the extra shipping cost. NOTE shipping outside the continental USA is without the hat box. We actually measure each hat 3 times to verify its size, tagged or not. This is tagged 7 but that period of time there was no hat sizing standardization. We did measure the hat though 3 times and its measures a perfect size 7-1/8 at 22-3/8 inches. We use the 1970 Standard Hat Size Chart, which is what all the big manufacturers agree upon and is still in use today. These old vintage hats were very well made!
