About the Artist; Luigi Kasimir was an Austrian-born painter and printmaker, born in 1881, who was one of the first artists to use a technique called colored etching. In the mid-20th century he came to the U.S. to etch famous sites, including the bridges, skyscrapers, and parks of New York.Kasimir became one of the most proficient and prolific color etchers of the 20th century producing town and country views throughout Europe and the United States. In pursuit of his art Luigi was also assisted by his wife, Tanna Kasimir-Hoernes, and his son, Robert, who became highly adept with his father's technique. Following his father's death Robert continued to produce (as estate imprints identified in his penciled signature) many of his father's images. #AC8/6 LA86 11/1/18
