This listing is for an detailed engraving that came from a hard cover portfolio book titled: OEUVRES COMPLETES DE E. MEISSONIER, Paris, E. Lecadre & Cie. Editeurs, 56 Rue De La Rochefoucauld 56, 1884. The large page features a center embossed edge engraving with publishers information on bottom line under the title. The image is crisp and clear and features a soldier in uniform resting on a bench, his hands clasped around his sword, gloves at his side, etc. There is a "signature" in lower left of the engraving E. Meissonier with the date 1863. Directly below the engraving on the left is printed E. MEISSONIER PT. and the lower right HELIOG DUJARDIN and in the center is the title: LE SOMMEIL. The image alone measures approx. 5-1/4" wide BY 7-1/4"; and the overall sheet measures 17-3/4" wide BY 25". There is foxing on border around the image and on the sheet and discoloration on edges of the large sheet and wear along top edge. When packed SECURELY for shipping, the weight is 1 pound 4 ounces, shipping box measures 5 x 8 x 20. It will be rolled. Additional engravings purchased at the same time, depending on how many, may have to be shipped together in a large flat box.
