Vintage Egyptian 600 Silver Pill / Snuff Box (Archer & Chariot Decoration)

Description: Vintage Egyptian Silver Box Click image to enlarge Description This beautiful little box is made from solid silver of 600 grade (60% purity). It is of hexagonal form and the hinged lid is decorated with an archer in a chariot and the edges and sides have superb decorative detailing. The decoration is very deep cut which is why they would have used a lower grade silver because it’s more robust. Inside, there are Egyptian silver assay marks but they are so tiny and unclear that I can’t make them out although the central one may be the lotus flower. However, I have personally tested this box and will guarantee that it is made from 600 grade silver. I would imagine it is no more than 30 - 50 years old. Overall, this box is in beautiful condition but, unfortunately, there is a tiny hole to the rear side beneath the lid which looks as if it was caused when the decoration was originally hammered (please see the photos). However, when the lid is closed, the rim of the base completely covers the hole. The decorative detail is nice and crisp, the hinge is in good order and the lid snaps shut very securely. Please be aware that this is a vintage item so there will be some fine surface abrasions caused through use.
