Description: Vintage Dirk van Erp Hand Wrought Silverplate Dish Description and Item Information Up for sale is this vintage, large silverplate on copper Dirk van Erp bowl or dish. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This gorgeous piece is more art deco than arts and crafts in style. It is oblong, with curved, shaped handles; it stands on four small, white feet. The well area has planish marks and the piece is smooth elsewhere. This large vessel measures approximately 17 1/4 inches long, 10 3/4 inches wide, and 2 7/8 inches tall. Unpacked, it weighs 3 pounds 4.8 ounces. Near one edge, there is an applied "JMR" monogram. This would be a fine addition to a collection of American art metal. Identification This piece is marked beneath, as shown, "HANDWROUGHT DIRK VAN ERP SAN FRANCISCO." The exact age of this vintage piece is not known. It was made in San Francisco, California. Condition This piece is in great condition overall. Although there is copper beneath the silver plating, the copper is not visible anywhere. Any brownish or orangish areas in the photos are glare only. The silver finish is nice and shiny. There are minor scuffs and fine scratches from use, but the wear is light overall.
